The idea of someone standing around in their sock feet got a whole lot more justifiable when Richer Poorer’s Iva Pawling and Tim Morse swooped onto the scene with their colorful arsenal. “Our socks are such an easy way to accessorize and give yourself a kick of personality,” Iva enthuses of their label, which started as a recession-proof way for dudes to amp up their wardrobes (see how there’s a nod to that right there in the company’s name?).
Now the sunny Californians also serve plenty of ladies who are looking to fancify their feet—and they’ve added a second brand, Pointe Studio, with offerings best worn without shoes: When Iva, a onetime Bar Method instructor, coerced her biz partner into joining her for a class, Tim noticed that the grippy socks on the pliéd legs around the room were far too boring and that he and Iva were just the people to change that (just as soon as their glutes recovered from the workout). Like the soles of their new creations, that line really stuck, too. —liz sheldon
