Sofia Ramsay has packed a whole lotta hustle into her 28 years. The Pratt Institute alum started working on costume jewelry collections for brands like Steve Madden, Macy’s, and Kohl’s before she even graduated—while at the same time developing her own line. “I love watching people, talking with tourists—all those different interactions inform my designs,” she explains. Those conversations translate into cheeky-but-timeless pieces like a pendant made coins with triangular cutouts, minimalist-chic bangles strung with just the right amount of color, and gold and silver symbol earrings that look like transposed notebook doodles.
Even though she’s living and breathing metalwork right now (“When I wake up, I see my peg board of ideas and materials looming over me, but I’d rather be surrounded by that than spreadsheets!”), Sofia’s still always working on another side project, like lending her metalsmithing skills to make currency-inspired talismans for an artist friend’s upcoming show. She might be losing sleep, but she’s still plenty bright-eyed. — Jane Gauger
