As a former Hollywood publicist, Ariel Gordon knows a thing or two about star power. And, fittingly, an understated bit of L.A. glam was exactly was she was aiming for when she started making her own jewelry out of her Santa Monica apartment in 2009. For her, it was about creating simple pendant necklaces and colorful studs designed to be mixed and matched, but using timeless materials like solid gold and delicate, conflict-free diamonds. As Ariel says, “Since I often find myself wearing the same jewelry for months on end, AGJ consists of highly customizable pieces designed to be layered and collected over time.” If that all sounds a little serious, though, don’t be fooled—Ariel’s line is full of humorous touches, from smiley face pendants to 14-karat-gold enameled fruit earrings that are definitely the greatest possible grown-up version of those stick-on ones you loved as a kid. Though Ariel now lives in San Francisco, every piece from her line is designed and handmade in downtown L.A.—a fitting origin for styles that get snapped up by the likes of Jessica Alba and Charlize Theron.
