Pili Restrepo is one for collecting passport pages: She was born in Colombia, grew up in Spain, and went to school for business and fashion merchandising in Italy, which is also where she fell hard for metalworking. “After I graduated, I moved to Florence to study with the master artisans there, people who do engravings and stone settings,” she says. A true student at heart, she brushed up on every aspect of the jewelry biz before deciding to set up her own shop.
By 2014, the globetrotter had made her way to NYC, and she took the plunge with PR Series, a line of super statement pieces like shoulder-grazing constellation earrings and scalloped metal chokers released monthly. Three years later, with fans like Leandra Medine of Man Repeller in her court, Pili launched a fine collection made entirely in her new city. “I really wanted to give work to the artisans and jewelers that I’ve known for a long time, who I want to support as much as I can,” she explains. Yeah, she totally gets our stamp of approval, too.
