Britt Hawkes has a naturally editorial eye—in fact, the Portland-based painter and jewelry designer’s line was born out of a lifestyle blog she started to document her aspirational looks. Born and raised in Oregon, Britt always had an interest in minimalist style and pared-down clothing silhouettes, and though that aesthetic is a much more popular these days than it was in the early aughts (a.k.a. the low-rise denim era), Britt was confident in what she likedand had a feeling she wasn’t the only one. So when she started dabbling in her own handmade necklaces, earrings, and barrettes while working at the concept boutique Johan, she leaned into streamlined, geometric shapes made from speckled clay. “It all began with me sharing my love of modern simplicity through fashion and lifestyle. Now I have found a way to express this through handmade jewelry design,” Britt says of Sea + Pattern’s accessories, which officially launched in 2017. Next up?
