Bridge & Burn’s List of the Most Delicious Stuff in Portland

Key to the City BY jiayi ying 10/06/2014

Erik Prowell has a whole lot of love for Portland, Oregon. The city—he was born there and returned in 2005 after doing some time in Boulder and Bend, Oregon—provides inspiration for many of the designs in his line Bridge & Burn (see: rain → rain jackets). But his favorite thing about the place? The food. And here’s where we’ll let Erik do the talking.

Heart Coffee Roasters
(2211 E. Burnside St.)

367 bridge burn
"Its such a beatiful and calming haven and I am addicted to their waterlemon juice at breakfast. They also have Marmite, which I have a weakness for."
of Bridge & Burn

“I eat at Radar more than any other place in town. The owners Jonathan and Lily are a true inspiration. They are so talented and hardworking, and the food is amazing. They’ve been open for about a year and half now, and it just keeps getting better. I highly recommend the chicken under a brick.”
(3951 N. Mississippi Ave.)

Huong’s Vietnamese Food
“Our shop and office is within two blocks of 40-plus food carts. Huong’s is one of the best. Their $4 bahn mi is a steal, and the pho is delicious. It is one of the few carts that stays open later in the evening, and after a long work day, I like to settle in with their tamarind chicken.”
(Downtown Food Carts, SW 10th & Alder St.)

“Jackknife just recently opened down the street from our shop. The space is gorgeous, making it the perfect spot for happy hour.”
(614 11th Ave.)

“Portland is known for its coffee, and for good reason. I have Stumptown locations close to both my home and office, so it’s one of my go-to spots at least once or twice a day.”
(1026 SW Stark St.)

Dove Vivi
“Portland is also known for being original. Dove Vivi is one of my favorite restaurants in town, and their pizza is like no other. They feature a super-hearty cornmeal crust and amazing toppings. I’m a pretty staunch meat-eater, but their vegan corn cashew with sweet corn and smoked tomatoes is my favorite item on the menu.”
(2727 NE Glisan St.)
