Tyler Haney’s 5 Tricks to Run, Run, Run All Winter Long
Okay, so we’ve already covered how you can start putting in a few miles in the winter. But how do you keep at that routine when it’s so cold outside you barely want to run errands, let alone a 10k? Outdoor Voices guru (and contender for cutest person in the universe) Tyler Haney has all the tips, and she has time to share them and helm a blowing-up athletic wear line, so, ahem, lace those shoes up.
THINK OF YOUR BRAIN.
“Exercise makes my brain happy and keeps me centered. I've never gone for a run and regretted it, so I have to remind myself of that—especially early in the morning or when it’s freezing outside.”
PILE ON THE LAYERS.
“Being comfortable is key. I wear a lot of thin layers rather than big bulky outerwear. We're coming out with an OV merino collection for men and women later this winter that will be a game-changer for winter running.”

“Running with a friend (or few) is the number one thing that keeps me motivated. I'm so much more likely to stick to a commitment if I know someone else is counting on me—and it's a great way to catch up.”
FORCE A ROUTINE.
“The more I can create a consistent routine, the more likely I am to stick to it. The power of habit is no joke.”
CHOOSE A+ SHOES.

“Getting the right sneakers for your feet is huge. I wear Newtons, which are designed to keep you on the balls of your feet, and I think make me run faster. The company is based in Boulder, so you know they're good. [Ed note: Tyler happens to hail from the great city of Boulder as well, so they’ve got a pretttty great track record.]”
