All the Deliciousness We Consumed in 2018—Including So Many Snacks
Food is a cornerstone of A Few Things podcast conversations (okay, fine, all of our conversations), and when we went to collect all of our favorite eating recs from the 2018 season, there were...a lot. Here, all recipes and noshes that kept us going through what felt like a very long year.
In the snacky realm, there’s the iconic Pretzel Perfection Original Snack Mix, Late July Jalapeno Lime Tortilla Chips, Late July Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers (and the cheese version!), Annie’s everything, and Smartfood. Also, non-sponsored shoutout to Daily Harvest smoothie packs!
This is for all you gluten-free-ers out there: Franz Gluten Free Great Seed Bread, Canyon Bakehouse Everything Bagels, Le Pain Quotidien's GF loaf, Joan’s GF English Muffins (an English muffin and arepa lovechild), and The Gluten Free Bakery’s Seedy Sandwich. For a few local winners, seek out Buckwheat Bread at Chambelland in Paris, Adventure Bread at Bi-Rite in SF and Cookbook LA, and sourdough from Honey Hi in L.A.
For the breakfast menu: Rowster Coffee (made in this) or a Nespresso along with overnight oats, tomato-ricotta toast inspired by The Smile in NYC, toast with almond butter and Mike’s Hot Honey, or eggs, so many different ways.
For the dinner (or lunch) crowd: We can’t get enough of this salad recipe or this broccoli recipe, and our favorite go-to Trader Joe’s item os def the cauliflower gnocchi. Don’t forget Food52’s barrel-aged hot sauce, which takes taco night (or morning) to the next level, and leftover grains are best put to use as fried rice using this Food52 recipe or this New York Times version as a guide.
